Good Vibes, Good Life: How Self-Love Is the Key to Unlocking Your Greatness
By Vex King
In this book, Vex will show you that when you change the way you think, feel, speak and act, you begin to change the world.
It is The #1 Sunday Times bestselling non-fiction book of 2021 with over one million copies sold worldwide.
I loved this book, it was an easy read but filled with thought provoking moments and tools to help you be the best version of you that you can be.
Girl, Woman, Other
By Bernardine Evaristo
Winner of the Booker Prize in 2019: Girl, Woman, Other follows the lives and struggles of twelve very different characters. Mostly women, black and British, they tell the stories of their families, friends and lovers, across the country and through the years.
It is an interesting read with a very different style lacking punctuation and capital letters... More like a stream of consciousness.
Worth a read if you are interested in learning more about black culture and the challenges these women may face.
Atlas of the Heart
By Brené Brown
In her latest book, five-time #1 New York Times bestselling author Dr Brené Brown, writes, "If we want to find the way back to ourselves and each other, we need language and the grounded confidence to both tell our stories, and to be stewards of the stories that we hear. This is the framework for meaningful connection."
I loved this book... From it's coffee table type feel to the bright pictures and quotes interlaced throughout. It came at just the right time for me as I was exploring my own emotions and trying to understand and label them better.
Brené walks the reader through 87 different emotions offering her own personal insight as well as research she has completed and quotes from others' work. She ends with a grounded theory on cultivating meaningful connection which helped me understand how some of my own behaviour was actually counter to my strong desire for connection.
It's a book I'll come back to again and again and I thoroughly recommend you read it too!

Shine: Rediscovering Your Energy, Happiness and Purpose
By Andy Cope & Gavin Oattes
I've worked with Andy Cope and Gavin Oattes at various points in my career and this is just one of their fabulous books...
Redefining the genre of ‘self-help comedy,’ Shine is a book about the brevity of life. It contains adult themes of mortality, change, exhaustion and unrelenting pressure. Thankfully, the bleakness is done with humour and the solutions are entertaining, do-able and uplifting.
Shine is the literary equivalent of ‘ctrl/alt/delete.’ All you have to do is read the book, keep an open mind, and apply the learning. You will experience a personal re-boot with new mental software installed, upgrading you to ‘best possible self.’ It’s a very simple process that also happens to be ‘not very easy.’ Because, of course, if being your best self was easy, everybody would be doing it.

Written from the point of view of an exhausted mummy at the end of the day, it’s honest, it’s funny, and it’s a little bit sweary.
